SCHOOL ARCHIVE ROOM TAKES SHAPE | St. David's College Old Davideans Association
The shiny new Archive Room at St. David’s is shaping up nicely. We even have a lovely new carpet! Please do send us a message if you have any school memorabilia that you would like to donate or loan to us. It really is turning out to be an exciting and fascinating project.
Notice the “Chantry School” plaque on the shelf...here’s the story:
Chantry School was the name given to St. David’s College in the film Unman, Wittering and Zigo. In the film this actual plaque was on thegateposts just after Lion’s Gate. Simon Buckley rescued it at some stage in the 2010’s when it was about to be thrown out. Interestingly if you go on catch up tv and find the ICARUS episode of Endeavour, you will see that it is a ‘hommage' to Unman, Wittering and Zigo. The classroom scenes are pretty well exactly the same, and the teacher being replaced is called Mr Ebony in the film, and Mr Ivory in Icarus. The original trailer can be viewed on YouTube and you see a glimpse of the school building at 32 seconds!
