Rupert Lunnon OD January 1979 – July 1982 | St. David's College Old Davideans Association

It is with great sadness that we received the news that Rupert passed away on Sunday 30th January following a 30 year struggle with MS.

Tim Hall writes about Rupert:

Rupert is fondly remembered by many past pupils and a number have kept in close touch with Rupert since leaving St David’s and during his long illness.

Ann, Rupert’s mother, has faithfully looked after Rupert and we remember her in our thoughts and prayers at this time as she grieves the loss of her son.

I was reminded of the story of Rupert’s father, who passed away in 2010, posting a cow (posting in the Royal Mail sense)! It’s well worth a google ‘Lunnon post cow’. It brought back a memory of Rupert doing something rather unexpected - a family trait of ‘dry logic’, perhaps. Immediately following Sunday Morning Chapel, on one particular Sunday, we went down to Llandudno Sailing Club. We had pulled the boats along the prom to the wooden slipway ready to launch. I spotted Rupert in full Sunday uniform, blazer and all. I asked him about getting changed. Without saying anything he reached for his dry suit and pulled it on over all his Sunday Chapel best!

Brent reminded me how much Rupert, and the other lads, enjoyed being at Belmont House, in Deganwy, with Roby and Joan Davies. There are so many memories which so many hold, please do share them.

Following so many years of struggling with his health our prayer is that Rupert can now Rest in Peace and that his mother is able to find rest and peace for herself.
