ODA REMEMBRANCE WEEKEND 2018 | St. David's College Old Davideans Association
We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to our annual ODA Remembrance Weekend at St David’s. As ever, we have organised a packed programme for the weekend with staff, pupils, retired and previous members of staff attending who are all keen to meet up and reminisce. Activities on offer are cross country, climbing, shooting, rugby and netball. Do come and take part or spectate.
A New Format for the Dinner on Saturday November 10th Instead of the sit down evening meal, we have decided this year to try something different, less formal and hopefully more fun. At 7pm there will be the usual reception in the Old Library with Prosecco, but after that we will move into the Minstrel Hall where there will be a two course buffet set up on the dining table. There you will pick up your buffet and either walk round with it, socialising with friends, sit down somewhere comfortable, or stand and eat at one of the special tall buffet tables. Dessert will be served as a second course. There will be a bar between the Minstrel Hall and the Old Library where you can buy drinks. After everyone has finished, we will have a raffle and an auction in aid of our new Sports Hall - we are more than half way there now - and there will be the opportunity to buy yourself a naming spot on the wall in the meeting room of the new building, or your name on a paving stone, or even bid to name the building itself. We hope that this new format will give more people the opportunity to enjoy Saturday evening in school, with much interaction, socialising and fun.
On Sunday, the Rev Tim Hall will be leading the Remembrance Service in the Assembly Hall. This year's guest speaker is former Music teacher Marion Horley. As ever, there will be tea/coffee in the Minstrel Hall after the service. We are having a special Remembrance Day memorial walk after coffee with special Old Davidean and Parent armed forces guests to honour the Centenary of the end of WW1.
We have a Facebook page for the ODA which is updated regularly with news and events. The groups for the netball and rugby for ODA weekend are on the Facebook page. Obviously we will also continue to email information in addition to this page. If you “like” the page, you will automatically receive updates on your newsfeed. Here's the link:
